I have developed software on devices ranging from high-end multi-terabit core Internet routing devices down to very low-end resource-constrained sensor network devices.
I’ve led geographically distributed, cross-functional teams in developing, deploying and maintaining software and services for enterprise video conferencing systems.
I am passionate about enabling a culture of openness, trust and collaboration across teams.
I’m currently a Technical Lead at Citizens Advice, where I lead on the technical direction of our Case Management system, the central workflow tool used by all our advisers.
During the three years before that, I was part of the BBC News Labs team, with mission to prototype and demonstrate new ways to bring content to audiences and new ways to improve the workflow of our editorial colleagues.
I have acted as a technical lead for projects, provided guidance on architectural design and coding decisions, and taken ownership of cloud-based and on-premises infrastructure.
I have line managed, coached and mentored teammates, helped recruit new team members and helped to shape our ways of working.
I was previously part of a BBC R&D team that investigated ways to improve the curation of online content. I took responsibility for automating and scaling the deployment of our research components onto our cloud-based platform.
Before that, I spent 8 years helping to build videoconferencing systems at TANDBERG and Cisco, and also a few years working on European-funded collaborative research projects in the Department of Computer Science at UCL.
